Fitness Photography

My favorite images from my shoot at Crossfit Beaufort, the goal was to make these lovely hard working ladies look as cool as possible. Needless to say, they did a great job, even enduring the exceptionally cold water that day. It was definitely frigid that day, about 58 degrees when I woke up and walked outside that morning.

I used a simple pvc system with garden sprinkler heads to create the rain falling, and hung everything up using plain old wire to the structure at Crossfit Beaufort. A few things I would change... I used a black vinyl backdrop that reflected a little light. If I had used a cloth one instead, it would have absorbed the light and produced more of a black background. Waited until it was warmer... I had almost canceled that morning, just because it was so chilly, and I knew my models, Richia and Jess, would be super cold. I'm glad I didn't as I still got amazing images, but I'm really picky about making my models uncomfortable, so that played a lot into what I felt comfortable asking them to do.

We did a few more posed type shots with Jess that really turned out well.

Lastly, I need to give credit to Benjamin Von Wong for the inspiration, he does amazing work and is really doing a lot to bring attention to the environment. You should definitely check out his website and his work, nothing short of amazing! A HUGE thank you to Crossfit Beaufort for hosting us that day, can't thank them enough!

Hope you enjoyed the images, and I'll be posting more fitness photography, soon!
